History
Kevin McGrath, President and founder of McGrath Press, learned the mechanics of the printing business from his father, Mike McGrath. Manager of an in-plant shop in Des Plaines, Illinois, Mike McGrath also ran a small print operation out of the family's Arlington Heights home. This business, operated in the garage, was known as Suburban Press and Letter Service.
After graduating from Buffalo Grove high school in 1980, Kevin McGrath worked with his father and two other printers before starting his own company in 1982, North Arlington Press. McGrath aggressively spread the word of his new business by networking and distributing business cards at every possible opportunity to attract new customers and grow the business.
By the mid 1980's, his business had outgrown the family garage and relocated to a 1,500 square foot facility, shared with an upholstery company. As the business continued to grow in the early 1990's, so did the need for additional space. McGrath made two additional growth moves in Arlington Heights, ending with a 6,500 square foot facility.
In October of 1995, McGrath built a new 11,700 square foot facility on two acres in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The company name was changed and incorporated to McGrath Press and Graphic Services, as it stands today. Continued investment in state-of-the-art technology and equipment has been critical to the ongoing success of McGrath Press and will continue into the 21st century.
